Spherical Robot with Jumping Capability: DRDO DRUSE 2018
On the occasion of 60th anniversary of DRDO (Defense Research and Development Organization), the R&D(E) (Research and Development Establishment, Pune) organized a national level competition inviting entries for ideas transforming the defense sector of India with the use of Robotics- DRUSE (DRDO Robotics and Unmanned Systems Exposition).
Out of 14 various themes related to defense, we chose the theme of Surveillance in Multistorey Buildings, and for the same, we conceptualized and designed a Spherical Robot with jumping Capabilities, which is agile, easily deployable, in camouflaging shape. Additionally, We performed Multibody Dynamics Simulations of Maneuver of the spherical robot and its jumping mechanism using Scripted Simulation facility of MSC ADAMS. We qualified Initial Screening and secured the 3rd position at Zonal-level Screening organized at DIAT- Pune, and were among the 30 top finalists out of 1180 entries from all over India, bagging total prize money of Rs., 50,000/-. Multibody Dynamic Simulations performed by us got special mention from judges during thanksgiving and award ceremony. We also got to visit Research Facilities of Various Research Groups at DRDO R&DE (E), Pune.
