Syrup Dispenser
There exists many pill-dispensers in the market that help elderly people in medication. They also provide sophisticated features like alarms and reminder. But there isn't any syrup dispenser made for medicines that need to be consumed in liquid form.
As a part of Principles of Product Design course project, we designed a Syrup Dispenser for elderly people using Archimedes Screw, Doing so we implemented the learnings from the Principles of Product Design class like:
Problem Identification
Concept Generation and preparation of Function Diagrams
Concept Selection including Concept Scoring and Concept Screening
Concept Development

The syrup dispenser can be prepared in different versions with multiple functionalities, with the simplest portable standalone syrup dispenser, and the most advanced one with automated syrup dispensation and portable refrigerator. We could not prototype due to the remote working environment imposed due to pandemic.

I also developed a detailed CAD model of the syrup dispenser in Solidworks and performed appropriate calculations for the design of Archimedes screw & selection of optimum parameters.

Also, the Syrup dispenser comes with an intelligent cylindrical CAM operated Mechanism that seals the container after dispensing the syrup. We followed all Product Development and QFD principles in the development as detailed in the attached report.
