Oxford defines religion as:

"the belief in and worship of a superhuman power or powers, especially a God or gods."

However, I contend that many of the Indic religions are more accurately described as "Darshans," a term loosely translating to philosophies. In my perspective, these Darshans serve as pathways to comprehending the fundamental questions of existence: what, why, and how the world operates. They delve into spiritual realms, offering profound insights into the nature of reality and the human experience. In fact, science as well is a form of philosophy to reason and understand how the world functions. But that focuses more on the materialism in terms of extraction of economic value off that knowledge to solve the problems faced by humanity.

While Western philosophers such as Aristotle have garnered significant recognition for their ideas, many Indic philosophies have unfortunately been overlooked, particularly in today's academic climate. Through my exploration of Jainism, or as it is referred to, Jain Darshan, I have found it to closely align with numerous principles endorsed by contemporary science. And my readings of the same has strengthened my belief and resolve in the same and has humbled me to appreciate the knowledge and wisdom our ancestors had.

These articles represent my earnest endeavor to articulate my viewpoints while structuring my reflections on the practicality of Jain principles. They serve as a platform for me to share my insights and seek feedback from others who may share similar interests and perspectives. Through this exchange of ideas, I hope to foster deeper understanding and appreciation for the profound wisdom embedded within Jain philosophy.

In stark contrast to other global belief systems, Jainism does not adhere to the concept of a superhuman entity capable of creating, managing or destroying the world. Instead, it embraces the principles of existence wherein matter cannot be created nor destroyed—a concept that resonates deeply with scientific understanding.

Jainism embodies the pursuit of the purest form of happiness, encapsulated by the concept of "Nirakul Sukh"—a state of bliss devoid of any worries. I liken this profound state to the fleeting moment we experience after completing our final exam just before a vacation. In that brief interlude, we are liberated from concerns about upcoming exams or adhering to strict schedules—a temporary respite from the anxieties of daily life.

The eternal happiness Jainism advocates for mirrors this transient sensation, urging individuals to aspire towards a deeper, enduring contentment rather than settling for fleeting pleasures intertwined with worldly worries. It beckons us to transcend the ephemeral gratifications of the material world and embrace a state of profound inner peace and fulfillment.
